Principal Assessor, Management Systems, DNV GL – Business Assurance
I specialize in the assessment and project management of complex, multi-standard, international clients, against a range of management system standards including quality, environment, health, safety and asset management. I am passionate about process efficiency and the use of technology to enhance efficiency, improve performance across all disciplines, and reduce environmental impact. I strive to contribute to this through analysis of my own work processes, and through the assessment processes we deliver to our clients.
Trained as a mechanical design engineer, my first role was working on the design of gas turbines with Rolls-Royce in the UK. That engineering passion has stayed with me, even though I have now been assessing management systems for over 20 years. I joined DNV GL as an auditor of quality management systems, but soon broadened out to multi-standard assessments on global contracts. My main assessment activities are now in the construction and air traffic control sectors.
I enjoy music, playing the piano, reading and history, but most of all technology – I love innovation and engineering. I have a very fast radio controlled car, which was great to build, but really scary to drive! More relaxing is my interest in kites – I have a flying wing power kite and a stunt kite.
